Hello and Welcome

Naava Carman portrait
Hello and welcome to my blog.

Over the past 15 years of practising Traditional Chinese Medicine and helping people have children, I have found that often diet and lifestyle are critical factors in helping people conceive, have a healthy pregnancy and a good birth.

Over the years my patients have told me how difficult they find it to make the changes to diet and lifestyle when living busy ‘modern’ lives. With this blog I’m hoping to help my patients (and anyone else out there who is interested) to establish and maintain healthy patterns in their life.

This is not a diet plan and this is not a blog which is designed to nag or guilt you into changing your life. I don’t hold myself up as the picture of perfect health, because no-one really is, but I want to show how I practice what I preach. So I will write about how, with a few basic steps, it is possible to establish healthier patterns in your lifestyle as well as news and topics that I find interesting.

A little bit about me:

I’m originally from Australia but have lived in London since I was a teenager. I still miss the sunshine and the great outdoors and always thought I’d go back to live there again; but life takes you to places you never expected. So here I am 25 years later, married to a Londoner and expecting my first baby; and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Professionally, I’m a Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist and Herbal Medicine Practitioner who specialises in Fertility, Gynaecology, Pregnancy and Birth. I’m also a Doula, and a Doula Mentor and I run the membership department for Doula UK. I set up the Fertility Support Company with an ethos of using Western Medical techniques to diagnose and understand health issues, and then use Chinese Medicine to support my patients through to pregnancy and birth, either naturally or in combination with Assisted Reproductive Techniques such as IVF or IUI.

This is my first foray into blogging, and social media, so please bear with me while I find my feet, and help me along the way by giving me your comments, questions or suggestions via the comments section on this blog or my Facebook page.

I hope you enjoy it,
Naava
